Hello everyone. I am freshly engaged , and will be getting married at our little Dickens event in Galveston 2010.
You all are great sources of opinion and information, so I was wondering what your ideas for bustled wedding dresses are. I am having hardest time deciding which flavor I want to do...early, naturalform, or late.
I have the dover wedding book, but I want to see what you think. Thanks for all the help.
cheers!

Congratulations!
I happen to like the natural form. Before I knew what Victorian clothing was, I picked a wedding dress that was most closely related to the natural form.
Really, tho', all of the eras are beautiful. My sister in law had a light blue CW gown made for her wedding, themed as such. Her hubbie even had the confederate uniform. It was great!
I realize this won't help any, but it truly is your preference.
I wish you the best.
Marriage, it is like shoveling sand...not real complicated, just a lot of work and commitment. _________________ and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Cor 3:17b |

Congratulations!
You should stick to which ever period matches your personal aesthetic more closely. Personally I like the NF and late bustle styles more (the really high waist on the early bustle drives me mad), but you should do what you like. Besides, you look stunning in everything! _________________ "The difference between clothing and fashion is a lack of peer pressure." |

Hey Kelly, I know I already talked to you today, but I ran across this dress and thought of you:

If you're looking for references for any of those periods, Festive Attyre has a bunch of Peterson's images on the internet (under "Research") and the Dover Archive book Victorian Fashions and Costume from Harper's Bazar 1867-1898: 1000 Illustrations has TONNES of stuff for you, including hats and jewelry. _________________ http://www.livejournal.com/~oldsewing |

does anyone know if there are 2 steel halfhoops/ bones to help with the stand of the back of the dress?
This almost looks like it, but it really doesn't get clear from the photos....

Based on that pic, yes, those are two steels to stand in for a bustle. _________________ Heather McNaughton

Congrats, Kelly!
I would choose NF as well, although a dinner dress neckline as opposed to a high neckline for comfort's sake (unless you are wanting to be period correct?) _________________ Diana
