In Vintage Hats & Bonnets by Susan Langley, page 126: "In 1887, an English inventor patented a musical bustle, which played 'God Save the Queen' to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee."
Made me laugh.

I've seen some of the original information on this bustle, it was for the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign. I would play every time the wearer stood up. _________________ Heather McNaughton

And let's just hope all the bustles stood up at the same time! _________________ Diana
