smt22 - There are lots of little B+B's around the town but i don't know how full they are. I am staying at the Glen Usk hotel which is right in the centre of the town. I think they still have rooms for that last weekend. Probably best to look on the different booking sites.

if you go on the festivals website there is a page for accommodation and links to the various websites along with phone numbers. i am sure there will be something available.

I'll be there at the end of the week only - the Friday evening and Saturday (28 & 29 August), and travelling home on the Sunday. I'll be wearing this:

...and strolling with my gallant gentleman, so if you see us, please say hello!

Also, if anyone with a programme could let me know what is actually sheduled for that last weekend (including the Friday afternoon & evening) I'd be much obliged.

Hope to see some of you soon!

~Susan

My car has died in a rather natsy (read expensive) way, so as bustle dress on a motorbike doesnt really seam like a good option, I wont be able to make it. I hope you guys have a fantastic time, and hopfully I will see you all another time.

Well, I seem to have a problem getting my pc to let me log onto the TV boards without freezing up so sorry for my silence in the last weeks!!

I'm going to be there on the 29th only as we really have no clue what to expect and not too much in the way of funds either Very Happy So, we are going to have a bit of a look and hope to have more time there next year.

Still, this year I intend to have some fun and will be entering the hat and parasol competition Very Happy Is anyone else doing it? Do they normally have a hat and parasol competition and if so, does anyone have any photos from previous years? I'd love to know what the competiton is like Very Happy

Please say hello if you see me! I shall be in the company of two fine gentlement and another lady. This is my gentleman and me!

I look forward to seeing some of you!

Oh wow! What a day Smile Not only did we get to spend time with our best friends but we ended up meeting some more!

Louisa C, Cathi Higham and Susan(smt22) were all lovely to meet and it was great seeing what you had all done with TV patterns Smile

We all took part in the hat and parasol competitions with Louisa winning the hat competition and I think it was Susan who got an honourable mention in second place while I won the parasol competition Smile

It was great fun day and we will definately be back for more next year! Mind you, quite often us girls were on the sidelines while other ladies demanded that they had their photos taken with our "yellow boys!"

Thanks ladies, it was a pleasure to meet you all!

Well, I didnt take any photos I'm afraid as I dont have a compact camera and I didnt want to ruin my look by having a great big one slung around my neck! I think Susan had a camera and had her boyfriend take a photo of some of us!

Any more photos around?

I'll happily post a link to my pictures, provided the other ladies don't mind, as they are in some of the pictures! Let me know, ladies, then I'll go ahead and post.

It certainly was a great time! I am so glad that we managed to get there, even for such a short time. Definitely worth it Very Happy

PS: Did anyone get pictures of the Fancy Dress Ball? I'd really like to see what everyone wore to that (I've just been struck between the eyes with a totally brilliant idea which I'll make if we go next year)!

Hi Tiffers,

He carved his own hat block from a piece of firewood, based on a description he saw in a book called "Handmade in London". He's made lots of hats from it for shows he has been in!

Susan,

I don't mind at all about photos, i am also in the process of going through mine to post. Hard to believe it was a week ago.

I have a couple from the Fancy Dress Ball, a few people went in Elizabethan, Cathi and I were in Regency and there was even a lady dressed as a dressing table, she covered her dress in powder puffs and scented pouches and even had a mirror attached to the back of her dress. Obviously she won the best costume. I'm not sure if i got a decent picture of that but will post what i have.

They don't always do the same things every year, so the fancy dress ball might change to something else. Best thing is to keep checking the website for the programme next year.

I have to say it was lovely meeting you all, and i certainly have new ideas for next year.

Congratulations to Tiffers for the Parasol Competition, i knew you would as it was certainly the best and congratulations Susan for the honerable mention in the best hat. I think next year i am going to have some tough comptition from you all!!

Hope to see you all next year (if not before at other events) and hope to see more people there too next year.

I think we all had a great time.

Louisa C.

Hello Louisa, Susan, Tiffers & Ladies,
I’ve just got back from my trip to the UK and couldn’t wait to log onto the forum. Two months without the forum was a bit too long…
Of course, I wanted to post photos of Llandrindod but… they are all blurred (or almost all). When 2 ‘experts’ use the same camera and change the settings without telling each other… problems!! It will be better next year. In any case, I realise that I didn’t take many and, what’s more, I don’t much like being photographed. I think I’m one of those people that the camera ‘doesn’t like’.
I have 2 photos of the winner of the best costume at the Fancy Dress Ball. Her costume was superb. I’m going to ask her if I can post the photos on the forum.
I’ll put my photos in the gallery.
I’ll have to take some more, if only by way of thanking Heather, as all my outfits were, of course, Truly Victorian!

The winner of the Victorian Fancy Dress Ball is now on the forum and you can see the “Dressing Table” which is perfectly in the spirit of the period.
